TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan saw sunny to partly cloudy skies on Monday (April 27), with temperatures reaching 32°C (90°F) in the western region. The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署) expects this stable weather pattern to continue through Tuesday before a frontal system brings significant changes midweek.

The CWA forecast a significant weather shift on Wednesday as a frontal system passes through, bringing rain and cooler temperatures. The administration predicted localized showers or thunderstorms across Taiwan, with temperatures in the north, Yilan and Hualien regions dropping to around 19°C (66°F).

The weather will continue to fluctuate through Thursday, with the north and central regions experiencing a noticeable drop in temperature. Highs will range between 20°C and 29°C (68°F to 84°F) in the north, Yilan and Hualien. The CWA advised residents in the western region to remain cautious of potential thunderstorms and localized heavy rain.

Conditions will improve Friday as the northeast monsoon weakens, leading to rising temperatures and mostly sunny skies through Sunday. However, the eastern region and the Hengchun Peninsula (恆春半島), located at Taiwan's southern tip, may experience isolated showers. Sunday will see another approaching front, increasing the likelihood of localized afternoon thunderstorms in the south and Taitung.

Meteorologist Wu Der-rong (吳德榮) noted that sparse cloud cover and clear skies contributed to the cool morning temperatures expected Friday. Wu emphasized the stark contrast between warm daytime and cool nighttime temperatures, with daytime highs resembling summer conditions. Unstable atmospheric conditions are expected Sunday, with afternoon showers likely, Wu said. ◼
