TAIPEI (TVBS News) — New Taipei City Government Tourism Administration (新北市政府觀光旅遊局) will launch the "2026 Tamkang One Piece Adventure" on Saturday (May 16). The event ties the popular Japanese anime franchise to the grand opening of the Danjiang Bridge (淡江大橋), scheduled for Tuesday (May 12). Themed installations and promotions will line the Tamsui River (淡水河) waterfront.

A launch press conference at 6:30 p.m. Saturday will unveil the Tamsui (淡水) New Route, officials said. The event features a 6.5-meter (21.3-foot) "Giant Gear Two Luffy" statue and a 12-meter (39.4-foot) "Thousand Sunny" light show, both authorized by Japan's Toei Animation. Additional "One Piece" installations include Chopper, the Den Den Mushi and Devil Fruits displays along the waterfront.

Visitors can participate in an augmented reality "electronic stamp" mission by scanning QR codes with their mobile phones. Participants who collect stamps receive a limited edition "One Piece" fan and access to discounts of at least 10% at businesses in Tamsui and Bali (八里) districts. Partner accommodations offer up to 20% off during the event period.

The Tamsui Gold Seashore (淡水金色水岸) will distribute limited New Taipei Dollars starting at 1 p.m. Saturday. Residents who download the "My New Taipei City App" (我的新北市APP) and complete designated tasks can receive a NT$100 (US$3.18) voucher for use at over 90 partner stores in Tamsui and Bali. Distribution continues until supplies run out.

The official website and stamp page for the "2026 Tamkang One Piece Adventure" went live Saturday. Details on New Taipei Dollar partner stores, business district offers and accommodation discounts are available at the New Taipei City Government Tourism Administration website. ◼
