TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Eaton (伊頓), a global power management company, announced Thursday (Sept. 3) at SEMICON 2026 that it plans to invest an additional NT$3 billion over the next four years to expand its manufacturing capacity and supply capabilities in Taiwan. The investment aims to support a growing demand from Taiwan's AI, semiconductor and data center industries for high-density power and cooling solutions.

Eaton said Taiwan currently plays a critical role in the global semiconductor and high-tech industries. As AI computing demand grows, data centers and semiconductor fabs require greater power stability, energy efficiency and cooling capacity, driving the company to expand its operations and investment in Taiwan.

At SEMICON 2026, Eaton unveiled its 800-volt medium-voltage solid-state transformer (MV SST) in Taiwan for the first time, in line with the industry's shift toward 800V direct-current (DC) power architectures for AI data centers. The company also showcased its 9395XR 1.5-megawatt (MW) uninterruptible power supply (UPS) and 93PR 600-kilowatt UPS, designed to meet the higher power-density and power-supply requirements of AI data centers.

Eaton also worked with its subsidiary Boyd Thermal to showcase liquid-cooling solutions in Taiwan for the first time. The technologies span applications from UPS and power distribution to circuit protection and chip cooling. Eaton expects power requirements for AI server cabinets to eventually exceed 300 kilowatts, increasing the importance of power delivery and cooling as data centers scale up.

Eaton announced last year that it would introduce advanced UPS and power modules while expanding its production capacity in Taiwan. The company said cumulative investment in Taiwan from 2025 through 2026 has already exceeded NT$2 billion, with projects progressing ahead of the original schedule.
