TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Democratic Progressive Party's (DPP) Spokesperson Chang Chih-hao blasted Taiwan People's Party presidential candidate Ko Wen-je's new pledge to establish a new consensus through dialogues with party leaders with an open-minded approach and his hopes for disregarding outdated frameworks on Wednesday (Aug. 23).

Ko asserted via Facebook his intentions to gradually minimizing cross-strait hostility and start discussions for public benefit on the 65th anniversary of the 823 Artillery Bombardment.

In response to Ko's proposition, Chang challenged Ko with three questions during a press conference after the meeting.

He questioned Ko's outdated desire to "restart the service trade", his evasion on China's freeze on Taiwan's mango imports and finally, whether the Republic of China (Taiwan) and the People's Republic of China were not affiliated with each other.

Chang also highlighted that DPP Chairperson and presidential candidate Lai Ching-te maintains a clear stance and constant goodwill regarding cross-strait issues.

He stated that Lai is willing to initiate dialogue with China under conditions of equality, dignity, reciprocity, and without any preconditions to create mutual prosperity.

In response to those questioning Lai, Chang underlined his steadfastness and reliability as a presidential candidate, suggesting voters will choose a candidate possessing these characteristics.
