TAINAN (TVBS News) — The Taiwan Lantern Festival 2024 is set to take place in Tainan on Saturday (Feb. 3), featuring lantern areas in Anping and the High Speed Rail (HSR), covering a combined area of about 50 hectares.

The Anping Lantern Area will be open from Feb. 3 to March 10 while the HSR Lantern Area will be from Feb. 24 to March 10.

The High Speed Rail lantern area, encompassing about 28 hectares, is situated around the International Convention Center Tainan (ICC Tainan).

It will have three primary sections: the main exhibit, "Light in the City", and a "green-energy" zone.

Meanwhile, the main exhibit will feature 11 themes, while the "Light in the City" section, using sound, light, and art, will guide visitors through Tainan's 400-year history.

A main attraction of "Light in the City" will be an art installation titled "Infinity Cube," a 16-meter-high structure built exclusively with funding from Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC), costing over NT$10 million.

The surface of the Infinity Cube consists of thousands of special mirror-reflective plates. The design showcases diverse visual effects, reflecting its surrounding environment during daylight hours while illuminating city views at night with dynamic light.

Tainan Mayor Huang Wei-che thanked TSMC for its sponsorship, predicting it will attract more visitors, both domestic and international, to Tainan's festival.

TSMC regards this artwork as a manifestation of its ESG vision of enhancing society, embodying key areas such as green manufacturing, establishing responsible supply chains, creating a diverse workplace, nurturing talents, and caring for the underprivileged.
