TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A significant power outage affected thousands of households in New Taipei City's Tamsui District (新北市淡水區) on Monday at 10:40 a.m., leaving 4,088 residences without electricity, local reports indicate.
The Taiwan Power Company (台電) has linked the incident to a failure in underground power cables, though the exact cause is still under investigation.
Technicians were promptly dispatched to the area and have begun repair efforts. While power has been restored to 179 households, 3,909 remain without electricity.
The Taiwan Power Company has called for patience and urged residents to avoid using elevators and heavy appliances to reduce the risk of accidents during the outage.
As the situation continues to evolve, the power company is committed to restoring electricity to all affected households. However, they have not yet provided an estimated time for complete restoration, with repair work ongoing.
