TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Former President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) made her first public appearance post-office in Chiayi on Thursday (June 27), humorously stating that she couldn't always stay home.
Tsai attended the opening ceremony of the Voco Fullon Hotel (嘉義福容voco酒店), the tallest building in the Yunlin-Chiayi area, and shared her thoughts on life after the presidency. She was accompanied by former Premier Su Tseng-chang (蘇貞昌) at the event.
Tsai mentioned that the Voco Fullon Hotel, dubbed the "Chiayi 101," offers a breathtaking view of Alishan (阿里山) on clear days. She anticipates more tourists will flock to Chiayi after the full restoration of the Alishan railway in July.
Tsai praised the governing progress of Chiayi Mayor Huang Min-hui (黃敏惠) and Chiayi County Commissioner Weng Chang-liang (翁章梁). She credited them for bringing change to Chiayi and expressed her expectation that Chiayi would become a technology hub in the future.
