TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Administration for Digital Industries (ADI, 數位產業署) clarified on Monday (Aug. 26) that the delay in the Taiwan release of the Chinese game "Black Myth: Wukong" (黑神話：悟空) is due to procedural issues, not political interference.
Game Science (遊戲科學) launched the game globally on Aug. 20, but it has yet to appear on Taiwanese platforms, sparking speculation about political factors.
The ADI explained that "Black Myth: Wukong" must comply with the Act Governing Relations between the People of the Taiwan Area and the Mainland Area (兩岸人民關係條例) and the Game Software Rating Management Regulations (遊戲軟體分級管理辦法).
This compliance requires authorization from a Taiwanese agent and submission of relevant documents, including agency contracts, operational statements, company information, and server flow inspection reports, before the game can be released.
Deputy Director General Lin Chun-hsiu (林俊秀) emphasized that this matter is unrelated to politics. She explained that ADI will review the relevant materials, including agency contracts, ratings, and cybersecurity requirements, once the documents are submitted. If the information is complete, the game can be released in less than a month.
