TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Enoch Wu (吳怡農), founder of the Forward Alliance (壯闊台灣聯盟), emphasized on Thursday (Jan. 10) that the organization operates as an independent, non-profit entity and has never sought funding or subsidies from the government or political parties. Wu emphasized the alliance's commitment to promoting safety awareness and emergency response training across Taiwan since its inception in 2020.
The alliance has collaborated with over 100 organizations and businesses, conducting training sessions in 19 counties and cities. Wu highlighted their public service initiatives, including partnerships with public sector entities, providing free services to multiple institutions from 2022 to 2024. During this period, they trained over 1,000 police officers and law enforcement partners.
Forward Alliance has also donated emergency equipment to police units across various counties and trained nearly 1,000 civilian volunteers and leaders, along with 700 police and civil defense conscripts. Wu stated that if public departments cannot cover travel expenses for police and fire instructors, the alliance and private sponsors will jointly bear all training costs.
Wu stressed the importance of strengthening the social safety net, stating it is crucial for public health and safety. He urged that this should not become a partisan issue but a goal for cooperation among all political parties.
