TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's National Palace Museum (國立故宮博物院) is holding an immersive digital exhibition, "Illuminating the Palace" (光影繪動走進故宮), at AMBI SPACE ONE on the fifth floor of Taipei 101 until Feb. 9 (Sunday). The creative exhibit highlights the scope of the museum's extensive art collection through innovative digital displays.

Speaking at the opening, Museum Director Hsiao Tsung-huang (蕭宗煌) expressed gratitude to Delta Electronics and the AMBI SPACE ONE team for facilitating the exhibition's move beyond the museum's traditional confines. He highlighted the museum's pioneering role in new media art, which has evolved from 4K and 8K technologies to AR, VR, and MR, culminating in the creation of the "Immersive Palace" exhibition.

The museum's recently established digital information room has taken on the role of a curatorial unit. It has crafted digital works like "Seasonal Journeys" (四季行旅) and "Wandering Artists" (畫工遊踪), initially showcased in 2023 at the museum's main building. These works now find a new home in a professional immersive theater space, offering a unique audio-visual experience and driving the growth of the art performance industry.

Hsiao emphasized the museum's rich collection of artifacts, noting the digitization of approximately 410,000 images in 1 million and 6 million pixels. He encouraged the museum community to utilize these resources, aiming to blend the museum's artistic assets with modern cultural and technological industries.

The "Illuminating the Palace" exhibition features high-resolution projections and modern animation techniques, presenting large-scale artworks within AMBI SPACE ONE. It includes two episodes of the "National Treasure Dolls Enter the Treasure Mountain" (國寶娃娃入寶山) animation, which educates and entertains by sharing the stories of the museum's artifacts. The exhibition offers a perfect opportunity for the public to visit before the Lunar New Year holiday.
