TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwanese table tennis player Lin Yun-ju (林昀儒) advanced to the round of 32 at the Singapore Smash 2025 by defeating Kazakhstan's Kirill Gerassimenko 3-0 on Monday (Feb. 3).
Lin, ranked 12th globally, showcased his prowess in his first World Table Tennis (WTT) event of the season against the 51st-ranked Gerassimenko.
Lin dominated the first game, leading 7-2 and closing it at 11-5, demonstrating his powerful forehand. In the second game, Lin quickly recovered from a 0-2 deficit, scoring four consecutive points to secure another 11-5 win. The third game was more intense, with Lin trailing 8-9 before his aggressive serves clinched an 11-9 victory.
Next, Lin will face Australia's Hwan Bae in the singles. He will also prepare for the men's doubles, teaming up with Kao Cheng-jui (高承睿) for the first time. Later in the evening, they will compete against Chile's Gustavo Gomez and Canada's Edward Ly (李元璋).
