TAICHUNG (TVBS News) — Taichung Mass Rapid Transit Corporation (TMRT, 台中捷運公司) announced on Tuesday (Feb. 4) that they will increase the frequency of trains on the Green Line to manage the anticipated crowds ahead of the 2025 Central Taiwan Lantern Festival (中台灣元宵燈會).
The festival will illuminate Taichung Central Park (台中中央公園) from Feb. 8 to Feb. 23, with enhanced MRT services on its opening day and weekends facilitating visitor access.
Visitors can take shuttle buses from Songzhu Station (松竹站) and City Hall Station (市政府站) on weekends, while buses remain an option on weekdays. TMRT highlighted that the shuttle buses will operate on Feb. 8, 9, 15, 16, 22, and 23, departing for the festival from 4:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. and returning from 5:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., with a frequency of 15 to 20 minutes.
During weekdays, buses from Wenxin Zhongqing Station (文心中清站), Wenhua Senior High School Station (文華高中站), and Wenxin Sakura Station (文心櫻花站) will service the festival site, with walking access available from Wenhua Senior High School Station and Wenxin Sakura Station.
