TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's energy policy embraces diversity, according to Economics Minister J.W. Kuo (郭智輝), who stated on Tuesday (March 11) that the government welcomes all forms of energy without specific preference. His comments came ahead of a "Committee of the Whole Yuan" (全院委員會) meeting, where legislators reviewed the central government's 2025 budget.

Raymond Greene, director of the American Institute in Taiwan (AIT), revealed a day earlier that the U.S. could supply Taiwan with liquefied natural gas and nuclear energy. He noted AIT's active discussions with local companies and government agencies to meet Taiwan's energy needs.

Kuo addressed media queries, clarifying that Taiwan's water and electricity supply is sufficient. He emphasized that businesses investing overseas primarily seek new markets, not because of local resource shortages. Kuo also mentioned that all foreign investments require the "Investment Commission's" (投審會) review, and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company's (TSMC, 台積電) case has not yet entered administrative procedures.

In response to a recent controversy, Kuo apologized again, expressing regret for any inconvenience caused to the administrative team. As Taiwan navigates its energy future, the government's inclusive approach and international collaborations highlight its commitment to a sustainable and diverse energy landscape.
