TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's 2025 Smart City Summit & Expo (SCSE, 智慧城市展) will showcase digital and green transformation across two major cities this March, drawing a record-breaking 3,000 exhibitors from 138 cities worldwide — a 28% surge from previous attendance. The expo launches in Taipei on March 18 before expanding to Kaohsiung on March 20, operating under the theme "Digital and Green Transformation" (數位與綠色雙軸轉型).

Speaking at a pre-show conference on Tuesday (March 11), Taiwan Smart City Solutions Alliance Chairman Alex Chien (簡志誠) highlighted the rapid integration of AI across industries. "Solutions from edge AI to gen AI are swiftly applied in many sectors. New industrial business models are created due to AI implementation," Chien explained. The event will feature a special focus on Ukraine's economic resilience. "Over 10 Ukrainian mayors and leaders will visit Taipei for the expo and attend business reinvention sessions," Chien added, noting the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' support for this international collaboration.

National Development Council Deputy Minister Kao Shien-quey (高仙桂) underscored Taiwan's technological contributions to environmental goals. "Before 2030, the government will invest over NT$1 trillion to drive 20 flagship carbon reduction projects, generating nearly NT$5 trillion in investment opportunities," she revealed. Taipei Deputy Mayor Chang Wen-te (張溫德) emphasized the expo's convening power, bringing together 569 city mayors and business leaders from around the globe. This gathering aligns with Taipei's own initiatives in transportation, healthcare, and smart governance.

The timing proves particularly relevant as global attention focuses on shifts in climate policy. Tech enthusiasts and sustainability advocates can explore cutting-edge AI applications for sustainable development at Taipei's Nangang Exhibition Center (March 18-21) and Kaohsiung Exhibition Center (March 20-22).
