TAINAN (TVBS News) — Authorities lifted the land warning for Typhoon Danas on Monday (July 7), but Tainan's Xinying District (新營區) continues to grapple with widespread damage. A brick house collapsed during the storm, highlighting the typhoon's impact on the area.

An elderly tenant in his 80s, residing in the collapsed brick house, recounted his harrowing escape. He said he was sleeping inside when the house fell. The bricks trapped him, but he managed to crawl out. He shouted for help, but the wind and rain drowned his cries. Fortunately, he escaped with only minor injuries.

Typhoon Danas struck Tainan City a day earlier, causing damage across several districts, including East (東區), Annan (安南區), North (北區), Anping (安平區), South (南區), and Central West (中西區). The storm led to numerous incidents, such as fallen trees, collapsed fences, damaged signs, and malfunctioning traffic signals.

The Tainan City Police Department's First Precinct (台南市警第一分局) reported 22 fallen trees and five sign-related incidents in the East District, with no casualties. The Second Precinct (台南市警第二分局) noted 15 incidents in the Central West District, including one injury. Annan District registered 50 incidents, with no injuries, according to the Third Precinct (台南市警第三分局).

The Fourth Precinct (台南市警第四分局) highlighted significant damage in Anping District, notably at Anbei Road's (安北路) softball field and Showba Department Store (小北百貨) signs. The Fifth Precinct (台南市警第五分局) recorded 56 incidents in the North District, resulting in five minor injuries. The Sixth Precinct (台南市警第六分局) reported 53 incidents in the South District, with no injuries.
