TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 氣象署) lifted the land warning for Typhoon Danas at 11:30 a.m. on Monday (July 7) and plans to cancel the sea warning by evening. Although Taiwan has exited the storm's radius, the typhoon still threatens the northern seas as it moves north-northeast, then northwest.

According to the administration, the typhoon's intensity continues to weaken, and its storm radius is shrinking. Heavy rain has already hit the mountainous areas of Kaohsiung City and Pingtung County, while Miaoli County, Taichung City, Nantou County, Yunlin County, and Chiayi County have experienced torrential rain.

The CWA has issued warnings for Tainan City, Kaohsiung City, and Pingtung County, where localized heavy or torrential rain remains possible. There is also a chance of heavy rain from Taichung northward and in the central and Taitung mountainous areas, with risks of lightning and strong gusts. The administration warns against landslides, rockfalls, and debris flows in mountainous regions, while low-lying areas should be wary of flooding.

Despite the weakening storm, large waves persist around Taiwan's coastal waters. The northern and northeastern coasts and Matsu (馬祖) are likely to experience long waves. The administration urges the public to avoid coastal activities for safety.
