TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE) opened with a rise of 30.17 points at 28,364.76 on Tuesday (Nov. 4) but closed at 28,116.56, experiencing nearly 500 points of fluctuation throughout the day. Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing (TSMC, 台積電) dropped NT$5, closing at NT$1,505.

In the stock specifics, MediaTek Inc. (聯發科) rose NT$15 to close at NT$1,315. Hon Hai Precision Industry Co., Ltd.(Foxconn, 鴻海) fell NT$7.5, ending at NT$244, and Delta Electronics, Inc. (台達電) decreased by NT$8, closing at NT$975. Additionally, Advanced Semiconductor Engineering Technology Holding Co (ASE, 日月光投控) declined by 2.85% to NT$239, and United Microelectronics Corp. (UMC, 聯電) saw a minor drop of 0.42%, closing at NT$47.4.

The market's dip at the end of the session reflects a typical correction, according to Marbo Group (萬寶投顧) CEO Wang Jung-hsu (王榮旭). Wang explained that November's corporate earnings reports are gradually being released. While six out of the seven major U.S. tech giants have already disclosed their results, aligning closely with market expectations, more reports are forthcoming. Wang noted that the ongoing U.S. government shutdown, now nearly a month long, contributed to selling pressure driven by profit-taking, yet he assessed that this would have minimal impact on the market's future.
