TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Major securities and futures companies in Taiwan have nearly sold out their limited-edition 2026 calendars, with Hua Nan Futures Co., Ltd. (華南期貨) and Capital Futures Corp. (群益期貨) reporting strong demand following Monday's (Dec. 9) showcase. High-end beauty brands have also joined the calendar craze, offering countdown calendars priced as high as NT$17,000 (approximately US$547) that are nearly sold out. The calendars have become sought-after commodities as companies compete for consumer attention ahead of the new year.

Hua Nan Futures deployed eight salespeople and one trader who transformed into cheerleaders for their calendar production, practicing routines for three to four months. Capital Futures mobilized 15 salespeople and 12 artisans, incorporating a 400-kilogram (882-pound) brick wall from Changhua as a prop for their 4,000-calendar production run. The elaborate productions reflect intensifying competition among financial firms to attract client attention through creative marketing.

Beauty brands have captured consumer attention with countdown calendars featuring full-size products priced as high as NT$17,000 (around US$547) that are nearly sold out. Some brands introduced calendars priced near NT$20,000 (around US$643), featuring five full-size products and limited to 30 sets nationwide. The premium offerings enhance the New Year experience with ritual and surprise elements.

Professional cheerleading teams from Taiwan's baseball leagues, including Rakuten Monkeys (樂天桃猿) cheerleaders and CTBC Brothers (中信兄弟) cheerleaders, have also released uniquely designed calendars that draw consumer interest. The sports-themed calendars expand the competitive calendar market beyond traditional financial and beauty sectors. ◼ (At time of reporting, US$1 equals approximately NT$31.1)
