TAIPEI (TVBS News) — K-pop girl group Babymonster (寶兒怪獸) performs at the Taipei Arena (小巨蛋) Friday and Saturday (Jan. 2-3) after arriving in Taiwan a day earlier to the delight of their fans. The group is YG Entertainment's first girl group in seven years since Blackpink, the globally renowned South Korean act. The seven-member band has attracted significant attention for their singing and dancing skills, drawing fans from across Taiwan.
Taipei city officials have established six exclusive photo spots to welcome fans, including Dadaocheng Wharf's (大稻埕碼頭) Gate 5, the Taipei Arena, Raohe Night Market (饒河夜市), and Taipei City Hall (市政府). Additional locations include the Ximen Visitor Center (西門遊客中心) and the Maokong Gondola (貓空纜車), a scenic cable car system. Officials said these locations aim to enhance the concert experience for fans visiting the city.
Taipei Metro (台北捷運), the city's mass transit system, has introduced special interior designs on the Songshan-Xindian Line (松山新店線) for the event. The Maokong Gondola is also offering limited-time fan support initiatives during the concert dates. From 2 p.m. to 11 p.m. on each concert day, fans can enjoy interactive content, including special subway announcements, extending the excitement from their journey to the venue.
Babymonster returns to Taiwan approximately six months after performing at the Multipurpose Gymnasium of National Taiwan Sport University (林口體育館) in June 2025. Group member Rami has paused her activities due to health reasons, according to YG Entertainment. Despite her absence, fan anticipation remains high, and excitement surrounding the Taipei concerts continues to grow. ◼
