TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署) released a warming trend in northern and northeastern Taiwan on Thursday (Feb. 12) as the weakening northeast monsoon influences the region. Despite the rise in temperatures, cooler early mornings and evenings will persist, with significant day-night temperature differences expected south of Hsinchu.
The CWA reported that on Monday (Feb. 16) and Tuesday (Feb. 17), a frontal system and stronger northeast monsoon will bring cooler temperatures to northern and northeastern Taiwan. Sporadic rain is likely north of Taoyuan and in eastern regions, including the Hengchun Peninsula and Hsinchu-Miaoli Mountain area, while other areas will remain partly cloudy to sunny.
The CWA disclosed that Tuesday will remain cooler in northern and northeastern Taiwan due to the northeast monsoon, with cooler mornings and evenings elsewhere. The administration added that by Wednesday (Feb. 18), sporadic showers are expected in Keelung North Coast, Greater Taipei, the eastern regions, and the Hengchun Peninsula, while other areas will enjoy partly cloudy to sunny skies.
