TAIPEI (TVBS News) — President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) hosted a tea gathering on Monday (Feb. 23) at the Office of the President (總統府), inviting the heads of Taiwan's five branches of government. President Han Kuo-yu (韓國瑜) of the Legislative Yuan (立法院), Taiwan's legislature, attended the meeting, where they discussed intelligence reports and other critical matters.
Karen Kuo (郭雅慧), spokesperson for the Office of the President, revealed that President Lai expressed gratitude to Han for the invitation and agreed to deliver an intelligence report to the Legislative Yuan in accordance with constitutional procedures. Han announced that he had invited President Lai to personally address the nation on the current state of the Republic of China and the issues the president aims to resolve.
Han mentioned that after securing agreement from the blue, green, and white caucuses, the Legislative Yuan will formally invite President Lai to present the intelligence report. The tea gathering lasted an hour and a half, during which the heads of the five branches discussed topics such as the general budget, tariffs, the Act Governing the Allocation of Government Revenues and Expenditures, intelligence reports, and the Special Military Procurement Ordinance.
During the meeting, Lai thanked Han for using the word "resolve" (化) to guide the discussion, hoping to reduce major issues to minor ones and resolve minor issues entirely. He assured that the agreements reached remain unchanged and offered symbolic gifts of harmony, including walnut cakes and kumquat tea.
