TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Sinshang Elementary School (新上國小) in Kaohsiung City (高雄市) went all out with a superhero-themed event to welcome students back to school on Monday (Feb. 23). Principal Wang Yen-yen (王彥嵓) and Parent Association President Su Shou-i (蘇守懌) donned Ultraman (超人力霸王) masks at the gate to welcome students. The event marked the final chapter of the school's "Superhero Trilogy," a creative initiative that aimed to inspire courage and growth among students.
The trilogy began with the screening of the motivational documentary "Taiwan Superheroes" during the first week of the semester, encouraging students to face challenges bravely. On Halloween, the school transformed into "Shovelman," where students engaged in labor services and environmental cleanup to showcase their initiative and action. The final chapter featured Ultraman's appearance at the school, symbolizing courage, justice, and the power to protect others.
Students who completed four tasks — fitness, cleanliness, talent, and character — over the winter break participated in a "Super Gashapon" lottery on the first day back. Principal Wang expressed his hopes for the program, stating, "We hope that through creative activities, children will gain superhero-like courage and energy, learn happily, and grow bravely."
Kaohsiung Wonderland (高雄冬日遊樂園) further amplified the superhero theme by featuring Ultraman at iconic locations such as Love River Bay (愛河灣), Kaohsiung Main Station (高雄車站), and Meinong Flower Sea (美濃花海). This immersive experience underscores the city's commitment to blending education with cultural enrichment.
