TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Hsu Chung-hsin (許忠信) was sworn in as a legislator at the Legislative Yuan (立法院), Taiwan's parliament, on Wednesday (April 22). Legislative Yuan President Han Kuo-yu (韓國瑜) presided over the ceremony, congratulating Hsu with a handshake after a group photo with the eight remaining Taiwan People's Party (TPP, 民眾黨) legislators.
Hsu replaced former legislator Li Chen-hsiu (李貞秀), who was expelled from the TPP. Li has filed for a provisional injunction with the Taipei District Court against the Central Election Commission (中選會) and the Legislative Yuan. The legal action aims to temporarily preserve her seat until the court resolves her administrative lawsuit challenging her removal.
Hsu said Li's legislative office remains occupied, preventing him from using the space, but he downplayed the inconvenience, saying his mobile office and Tainan service center remain operational. Asked about his past, Hsu said he preferred to focus on the future. On the issue of rights for Chinese spouses in Taiwan, Hsu reiterated the TPP's stance from the 2024 presidential election, advocating for their legal political participation. ◼
