TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan People's Party presidential candidate Ko Wen-je has made a public call for leaders of all political parties to engage in open dialogues regarding significant national matters on Thursday (Aug. 24).

During a morning press event, Ko stressed that major party heavyweights should "come together to discuss critical national issues, even though complete agreements might not be achievable."

"While disagreements might persist, they could be minimized compared to the past," he highlighted.

"We need to foster a communication culture in resolving major domestic disputes on a national level."

Ko further disclosed the likelihood of his attending the upcoming National Taiwan University's anniversary celebration, of which the Kuomintang (KMT) Chairman Eric Chu and the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) presidential candidate Lai Ching-te would likely be present.

"I was told that this year's National Taiwan University's anniversary celebration would be bustling with noise and excitement since all three of us were admitted to the university in 1979," Ko said.

Regarding his current polling position behind Lai and KMT's presidential candidate Hou Yu-ih securing the second spot, Ko expressed openness to collaborating with Hou through combined polling efforts, stating, "Anything is possible, but we need to communicate first."
