KEELUNG (TVBS News) — Following a series of violent incidents, including the fatal stabbing of a student from National Taiwan Ocean University, the Keelung City Police Bureau mobilized a considerable force on Tuesday evening (Nov. 21) for a series of raids.

The operations were a response to the recent surge in violent crimes in the city's hotspots like KTV bars and the Keelung Miaokou Night Market. The initiative highlighted the police's determination to combat crime by carrying out vigorous sweeps in bars, KTV lounges, snack bars, motels, and video arcades — venues known for potential troublemaking.

Bringing together the efforts of various divisions including the Criminal Investigation Division, Mobile Division, Traffic Division, and Juvenile Division, the police force deployed 150 officers to tackle the city's security concerns.

Between Nov. 19 and 21, the police successfully cracked down on criminal activities, solving one robbery involving one suspect, one gang assault that resulted in murder with three people involved, two cases of gun law violations with two individuals, and nabbed two fraudsters. In this process, authorities seized four modified firearms, 12 bullets, and assorted drugs among other contraband items.

As social disturbances made headlines, the safety of Keelung was at risk, triggering a red alert on the city's security status. Through these strict clampdown activities, the local police force made a strong effort to safeguard the peace and order of Keelung, aiming to ensure a tranquil life for its citizens.
