TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Taipei City Government announced on Thursday (Nov. 28) that the "Taipei-Shanghai Twin-City Forum" (雙城論壇) will take place in mid-December, with over 100 participants expected from Shanghai. The forum will feature a main session and three sub-forums under the theme "New Pulse, New Future" (新脈動,新未來). Sub-forums will address friendly transportation, river management, and cultural tourism.
Li Tai-hsing (李泰興), secretary-general of the Taipei City Government, revealed that the leading group from Shanghai will consist of more than 20 individuals, with the rest being professionals. He expressed hope that Shanghai's delegation would include officials, at least at the deputy mayor level. The planned venue for the event is the Regent Taipei (台北晶華酒店), and the sub-forums have been publicly tendered with vendors secured. Various departments have also started consulting experts and scholars.
Departments have arranged site visits for the sub-forum professionals visiting Taiwan, though details about attendees, locations, and times require reporting to the Mainland Affairs Council (大陸委員會). The level of participation remains uncertain. Li promised to provide a detailed report to councilors next week covering personnel, timing, main topics, and previous Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) status. Given the cultural tourism theme, resources revealed that China will potentially visit the Taipei Dome (台北大巨蛋) and Taipei Music Center (台北流行音樂中心).
