TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's stock market opened lower on Tuesday (Nov. 26), falling over 300 points to 22,645 points during early trading, due to declines in NVIDIA (輝達) and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company's (TSMC, 台積電) ADR.

The downturn affected Taiwan's three major weighted stocks: TSMC dropped by NT$20 to NT$1,010, Hon Hai (鴻海) fell by NT$7 to NT$203.5, and MediaTek (聯發科) decreased by NT$10 to NT$1,270.

The U.S. market showed a contrasting trend, with stocks rising on Monday after U.S. President-elect Donald Trump nominated billionaire Scott Bessent as U.S. Treasury secretary. This announcement received positive feedback from the market, pushing the Dow Jones Industrial Average to a new closing high.

Despite this optimism, NVIDIA and TSMC's ADRs weakened, preventing Taiwan's stocks from mirroring the U.S. market's performance.
