TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taipei First Girls High School's (TGH) Guangfu Building, a municipal heritage site, has reopened after more than two years of renovation. Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an attended the unveiling ceremony on Tuesday (Dec. 12) and recollected his days lingering at the gates of Taipei Municipal Chien Kuo High School, unable to enter.

During the ceremony, Chiang expressed his gratitude to alumni from home and abroad for their donations, which played a crucial role in restoring the building's former glory. The Guangfu Building, constructed in 1933 with almost 90 years of history, stands as the most iconic structure of the high school.

Chiang highlighted that the Taipei City Government has strongly supported the restoration project, allocating over NT$100 million to assist the effort, supplemented by generous contributions of tens of millions from alumni worldwide.

Reminiscing about his school days at Jianguo High School, Chiang said he often wandered outside the gates of Taipei First Girls High School and now feels the vitality of the campus as mayor.

An alumna shared that Guangfu Building's classrooms were mainly used by seniors. Seeing the edifice restored, she expressed hope that all students would share in the memory of this significant landmark.
