TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Kuomintang (KMT) vice-presidential candidate Jaw Shaw-kong made a public appeal on Monday (Dec. 18) for Foxconn founder Terry Gou to return to the party.
During an interview earlier that day, Jaw stated that Gou originally embarked on a signature campaign as an initiative for opposition consolidation.
As Gou did not register for the 2024 election, Jaw expressed hope that he would reconsider and come back to the KMT.
Given the current election situation, the KMT is in need of Gou's support. Therefore, Jaw reiterated his call saying, "Come back, Terry. We need you."
Gou, who was preparing to enter the presidential race as an independent candidate, had chosen veteran actress Lai Pei-hsia as his running mate, securing over 900,000 signatures in support.
However, Gou announced his withdrawal from the election before Nov. 24, the registration deadline set by the Central Election Commission.
