TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Following the unexpected rainfall inside the Taipei Dome the previous day, Taipei Mayor Chiang Wan-an announced a comprehensive review of the incident on Monday (April 1), with a report expected by the year's end. The review will factor into the annual performance assessment.

The Taipei Dome hosted the Chinese Professional Baseball League's (CPBL) opening game over the weekend, attracting over 28,000 fans, a record in the league's history. However, the sudden heavy rain in Taipei on Sunday caused a leak in the Dome, sparking calls for a review.

This is the second time the Dome has experienced a leak during a game. Mayor Chiang has called for a cross-departmental review and stated that the Department of Sports and the Department of Legal Affairs will conduct related research into the contract.

Farglory Group, the Dome's operator, said preliminary repair results showed the leak was caused by rainwater overflowing at the turn seam of the roof gutter pipe. Farglory pointed out that typically, a building undergoes maintenance three months to half a year after receiving its certificate of use. However, the Dome faced heavy use immediately after receiving its certificate. The company apologized for any shortcomings in the venue.
