TAIPEI (TVBS News) — In a significant diplomatic engagement, President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) met with King Mswati III of Eswatini on Tuesday (May 21) in Taipei, witnessing the signing of three pivotal memorandums of understanding aimed at bolstering bilateral relations. This meeting underscored both nations' commitment to fostering mutual prosperity and development on the foundation of their longstanding partnership.

Strengthening Ties Through Cooperation

 

During the meeting, President Lai expressed his sincere gratitude towards Eswatini for its unwavering support of Taiwan's international participation. He highlighted the fruitful cooperation between Taiwan and Eswatini in various sectors over the past few years, including agriculture, education, vocational training, and information and communication technology. President Lai voiced his hope for continued shared prosperity based on these achievements.

King Mswati III reciprocated the sentiment, acknowledging the deepened cooperation in areas such as rural electrification, public health, agricultural technology, microloans for women entrepreneurs, and strategic oil reserves. He expressed his anticipation for building on these successes to further benefit the people of both nations. The king also thanked President Lai for his steadfast leadership and support for the bilateral friendship, expressing a desire for President Lai to visit Eswatini in the future to experience the warmth of its people firsthand.

A Foundation for Future Growth
 

King Mswati III emphasized Eswatini's ongoing support for Taiwan, declaring the African nation a true and trustworthy friend. He expressed his hope for the enduring growth of the friendship between the two countries. This meeting not only reaffirms the strong ties between Taiwan and Eswatini but also sets the stage for future collaborative endeavors that promise to enrich both nations.
