TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Former Taiwanese President Tsai Ing-wen (蔡英文) welcomed her first visitor since leaving office, Dalia Grybauskaitė (葛寶絲凱), the former President of Lithuania, at her post-presidency office on Wednesday (May 22).

This meeting underscores the deepening ties between Taiwan and Lithuania, as Tsai expressed her joy in meeting friends from Lithuania and her hopes for an everlasting friendship between the two nations.

Tsai, who officially stepped down from her presidential duties on May 20, had planned to take a well-deserved rest. However, the visit from Grybauskaitė, who had previously visited Taiwan in August last year and attended the "FIBA 2023 World Cup Basketball Warm-up Match" upon Tsai's invitation, highlights the importance of international relations to Tsai even after her presidency.

Following her meeting with Tsai, Grybauskaitė is scheduled to meet with the newly inaugurated President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) at the Presidential Office at 10:30 a.m. This back-to-back engagement with Taiwan's current and former presidents not only signifies Lithuania's support for Taiwan but also showcases the ongoing diplomatic efforts to strengthen ties between the two countries.

The meetings serve as a testament to Taiwan's active role on the international stage and its commitment to fostering strong international relationships. As Taiwan continues to navigate its diplomatic path, support from countries like Lithuania plays a crucial role in its international strategy.
