LONDON (TVBS News) — Taiwanese tennis star Hsieh Su-wei and her Belgian partner Elise Mertens advanced to the Wimbledon women's doubles round of 16 on Saturday (July 7). They defeated the British duo Yuriko Miyazaki and Emily Appleton in straight sets, setting their sights on the £650,000 prize (NT$ 26.86 million).

Hsieh and Mertens, the top seeds in this year's Wimbledon women's doubles, dominated the first set 6-1 and clinched the second 6-2. Their next match will be against the American pair Sofia Kenin and Bethanie Mattek-Sands for a spot in the quarterfinals.

Hsieh also competes in the mixed doubles event at Wimbledon, partnering with Poland's Jan Zielinski. Meanwhile, another Taiwanese player, Chan Hao-ching, has reached the women's doubles round 16. However, Chan and her Croatian partner Ivan Dodig lost to the British team Marcus Willis and Alicia Barnett in the mixed doubles, with scores of 3-6, 6-3, 5-10.

Fans eagerly await Hsieh and Mertens' upcoming match, hoping the duo will continue their winning streak.
