TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Vice President Hsiao Bi-khim (蕭美琴) highlighted Taiwan's ongoing efforts to integrate with the global economy and its aspirations for meaningful participation in international organizations during a meeting with an Irish Senate delegation on Thursday (July 18), underscoring Taiwan's commitment to being a positive force in the world.

Hsiao welcomed the delegation, which included Vice Chairman of the Senate's Foreign Affairs and Defense Committee Diarmuid Wilson, Senators Gerard Craughwell, Gerry Horkan, Sharon Keogan, and Garret Ahearn. She expressed gratitude on behalf of President Lai Ching-te (賴清德) and the Taiwanese government for their visit and continuous support.

Hsiao said she was very pleased that the delegation had taken time out of their busy schedules to fly halfway around the world to Taiwan and thanked them for their continued attention and support of the people of Taiwan.

She emphasized the importance of the friendship that spans the globe, noting its significance for Taiwan's efforts in the economic and trade sectors. Hsiao highlighted Taiwan's desire to participate meaningfully in international organizations, become a force for good, and make meaningful contributions globally.

The visit by the Irish Senate delegation reflects not only growing diplomatic ties but also shared values and mutual support between Taiwan and Ireland. Future collaborations and discussions are expected to strengthen this relationship further, benefiting both nations.
