TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Authorities conducted the Wanan No. 47 exercise (萬安47號演習) on Monday (July 22) afternoon across seven counties and cities in central Taiwan, including Miaoli County, Taichung City, Nantou County, Changhua County, Yunlin County, Chiayi City, and Chiayi County.

The drills, which will be held between July 22 and July 25 across all parts of Taiwan are aimed at enhancing public readiness by implementing traffic and pedestrian controls.

For the first time, officials issued a Presidential Alert (國家級警報) warning of potential missile and rocket attacks on specific areas. Authorities urged citizens to take immediate shelter from 1:30 p.m. to 2 p.m. during the exercise.

During the drill, vehicles have to pull over, and occupants are required to seek refuge in nearby air raid shelters. Traffic resumes only after the exercise is concluded. Public transportation services, including high-speed rail, metro, taxis, and buses, also adjusted their schedules to accommodate the drill.

Residents must comply with evacuation protocols while engaging in daily activities such as dining out, shopping, or taking taxis. The government's proactive measures aim to ensure public safety and preparedness in the event of an actual attack.
