TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwanese taekwondo athlete Lo Chia-ling (羅嘉翎) exited the 57kg competition at the Olympic Games Paris 2024 on Thursday (Aug. 8) after losing in the round of 16.

Coach Liu Tsung-da (劉聰達) revealed that Lo will rest for 1-2 months upon returning to Taiwan, depending on her injury status.

Lo, who suffered a fatigue fracture in her left foot, had not competed internationally for eight months. She faced Laetitia Aoun, a bronze medalist at the 2018 Jakarta Palembang Asian Games, and lost 0-2. This match marked her comeback after winning bronze at the Tokyo Olympics.

Liu disclosed that Lo plans to move up in weight class and will debut in her new category at the 51st Dutch Open Taekwondo Championships 2024 on Oct. 19.

Following this event, she will compete in the Dracula Open 2024 in Romania and might participate in the Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Thailand at the end of November.

Lo, standing at over 183 cm, has had to strictly control her weight for competitions. Liu had already planned for Lo to move from the 57kg to either the 62kg or 67kg category post-Olympics.

Fans will watch closely as Lo transitions to her new weight class and prepares for upcoming competitions, hoping to see her regain her form and achieve new milestones.
