TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A low-pressure system approaching Taiwan will bring scattered showers to the greater Taipei area and northeast Taiwan on Monday (Sept. 9), according to the Central Weather Administration (CWA, 氣象署).

Meteorologist Lin Te-en (林得恩) warned that the impact will be brief but significant. Lin explained that the low-pressure system, identified as 94W, will be closest to Taiwan on Monday and Tuesday, adding that the coastal regions of northeast and eastern Taiwan will experience larger waves, though the rain will not last long.

Lin also posted on his Facebook page, "Lin’s Weather Station" (林老師氣象站), that the wind will shift from northeast to north-northwest direction, bringing scattered showers to the northern, northeastern, and eastern regions.

Eastern Taiwan, southeast Taiwan, the Hengchun Peninsula, and Penghu will also see isolated showers. Other areas, including Kinmen and Matsu, will remain mostly cloudy, with a chance of afternoon thunderstorms and heavy rain.

Lin advised caution, especially in coastal areas from Miaoli to Yilan and Hualien, where strong gusts are expected. He emphasized that the wind and waves will be more prominent than the rainfall, with the impact lasting less than 36 hours.

Temperature-wise, Lin mentioned that increased cloud cover and rain will reduce the likelihood of extreme heat, with highs ranging between 32 and 35°C. He urged residents to stay hydrated and avoid heatstroke during dry periods.
