TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Olympic badminton men's doubles gold medalist Lee Yang (李洋) officially retired on Sunday (Sept. 8), expressing his hope that people will remember Taiwan's strength in men's doubles when they think of him.

The retirement ceremony took place at Taipei Arena (台北小巨蛋), where Lee's past partners, including Wang Chi-lin (王齊麟), who won two Olympic gold medals with him, attended to offer their blessings.

The event featured a tribute video highlighting Lee's significant moments in international competitions. The footage included well-wishes from foreign badminton stars such as Indonesia's Mohammad Ahsan and Hendra Setiawan. Lee became emotional upon viewing the video, stating that he only then truly realized he would never return to the court.

Lee shared his disciplined lifestyle, revealing that he has consistently gone to bed at 11 p.m. and woken up at 7:20 a.m. He said he has always done whatever would benefit his athletic performance and expressed gratitude for his perseverance.

The ceremony marked the end of an illustrious career, leaving fans and fellow athletes reflecting on Lee's dedication and achievements. As Lee steps away from the sport, the badminton community will undoubtedly remember his contributions and the legacy he leaves behind.
