TAIPEI (TVBS News) — A new online poll released by Yahoo! Taiwan on Tuesday (Sept. 10) revealed that 48% of the public still distrusts Taiwan People's Party (TPP, 民眾黨) Chairman Ko Wen-je (柯文哲), with many doubting the effectiveness of the party's nationwide speaking events in improving its image.

According to the poll, 29.9% of respondents expressed complete distrust in Ko regarding the Core Pacific City redevelopment case, while 18.1% somewhat distrust him. On the other hand, 12.9% of participants said they somewhat trust him, and 17.1% expressed complete trust. Meanwhile, 22% were undecided or had no opinion.

Regarding the TPP's speaking tour, 22% of respondents felt the events would help restore the party's image, while 52.3% believed it would not. Another 25.7% were unsure or offered no opinion.

Yahoo! Taiwan conducted the online poll from Sept. 9 to Sept. 13, with over 40,000 participants as of 11 a.m. Tuesday. The gender breakdown was 51.6% male and 48.4% female, with 52.7% of respondents from northern Taiwan.

The poll was released as Ko faces scrutiny in connection with the Core Pacific City corruption case. In response, the TPP held a rally outside the Legislative Yuan on Sunday, claiming 20,000 attendees and over 100,000 online viewers.
