TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced on Wednesday (Sept. 11) its intent to further strengthen its cooperative relationship with the Federation of Saint Christopher and Nevis.

Vice Foreign Minister Remus Li-Kuo Chen (陳立國) emphasized the importance of deepening ties between the two nations and expressed gratitude for the ongoing support from the Caribbean ally.

During a Wednesday banquet, Chen thanked Eric Evelyn, an official from Saint Christopher and Nevis, and his delegation for their steadfast international support of Taiwan.

Chen highlighted the extensive collaboration between the two nations in education, healthcare, agriculture, climate, and women's empowerment over the years. Chen specifically mentioned the recently completed phase of a Pinney's Beach project to boost tourism in Saint Christopher and Nevis.

Evelyn acknowledged the deep friendship between the two countries, which spanned 41 years. He thanked Taiwan for its assistance in various fields, including agriculture and education, hoping to continue strengthening the cooperative relationship on a solid foundation.

The delegation, which arrived on Sept. 10, aims to discuss cooperation plans and regional issues before leaving Taiwan on Sept. 14.
