TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 氣象署) released updated rainfall and wind forecasts on Wednesday (Oct. 30) that mountainous areas in Yilan (宜蘭) and Hualien (花蓮) will experience the highest rainfall from Oct. 29 to Nov. 2, with totals reaching 800 to 1,200 millimeters.

The forecast anticipates significant rainfall over the next 24 hours. From 8 a.m. today to 8 a.m. tomorrow, Yilan and Hualien mountain areas could receive 200 to 400 millimeters, and the mountainous regions of Taipei (台北) and New Taipei (新北) may see 150 to 300 millimeters.

For flatlands, Yilan will likely experience 150 to 300 millimeters, while Keelung (基隆) and New Taipei are expected to receive 150 to 250 millimeters, the CWA reported as Typhoon Kong-rey (康芮) has moved closer to Taiwan.

Additionally, wind gusts could reach force 11 to 12 on Lanyu (蘭嶼), Green Island (綠島), and Penghu (澎湖). Coastal areas from Taoyuan (桃園) to Yunlin (雲林) and the southeast coast, including the Hengchun Peninsula (恆春半島) and Matsu (馬祖), might experience force 9 to 10 gusts. Other coastal regions, including Kinmen (金門), will also face stronger winds.
