TAIPEI (TVBS News) — As Typhoon Kong-rey (颱風康芮) approaches, Taipei City Government announced on Wednesday (Oct. 30) a series of measures to manage traffic and ensure safety. Officials opened certain roads around floodgates for parking from noon and implemented a "no entry" policy at the floodgates starting at 4 p.m. Vehicles remaining outside the dikes will be towed from 8 p.m. onward.

The city's Hydraulic Engineering Office (HEO, 工務局水利工程處) released a statement considering reservoir levels and water conditions from the Water Resources Agency (水利署). From 4 p.m., they controlled all city evacuation gates and over-dike ramps, urging vehicles parked outside the dikes to leave before 8 p.m. to avoid towing and fines ranging from NT$1,800 to NT$4,800 based on vehicle size.

Authorities will close all city evacuation gates at 10 p.m. to prevent rising river levels due to reservoir releases. The HEO advised people in riverside parks to leave the river areas early to ensure safety.

The city's transportation department also announced the opening of red and yellow lines on selected roads in Zhongshan (中山), Songshan (松山), Shilin (士林), Wanhua (萬華), and Datong (大同) districts for parking from noon, stressing the importance of maintaining two-way traffic flow. Parking remains prohibited at bus stops, fire hydrants, sidewalks, and areas that obstruct traffic.
