TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan Power Company (台電) reported that 63,522 households remained without power as of noon on Thursday (Oct. 31) due to Typhoon Kong-rey.

The approaching typhoon caused outages in 153,133 households across Taiwan, with 89,611 already restored. Taitung County experienced the most significant impact, with 15,653 households still without electricity, followed by Hualien County with 8,639 and Chiayi County with 8,279.

Taiwan Power Company mobilized nearly 10,000 personnel and over 5,000 engineering vehicles to address the outages.

The company cited the Central Weather Administration's report (CWA, 氣象局), stating that Typhoon Kong-rey is the largest storm to hit Taiwan in 30 years and the first autumn typhoon to land near November in 57 years.

The company emphasized the importance of safety in its operations and acknowledged potential delays due to weather, traffic, and nighttime conditions.
