TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Central Weather Administration (CWA, 中央氣象署) announced at 12:05 p.m. Friday (Nov. 1) that Typhoon Kong-rey (康芮) is moving away from Taiwan, and predicted the sea warning would be lifted by 2:30 p.m.

CWA forecaster Chu Mei-lin (朱美霖) stated that the typhoon would weaken into a tropical depression later tonight.

Chu explained that Typhoon Kong-rey is gradually heading northeast, with Taiwan and Matsu (媽祖) now outside the storm's influence. Chu noted that the typhoon's proximity to Taiwan's northern waters necessitates continued sea warnings.

The CWA forecasts that the northeast monsoon will affect the region, bringing significant rainfall and temperature drops to northern and eastern areas from Monday to Wednesday. Residents should prepare for the upcoming weather changes.
