TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Premier Cho Jung-tai (卓榮泰) on Tuesday (Nov. 26) assured Taiwan's energy sufficiency through 2032, emphasizing the government's open stance on new nuclear technologies. Cho addressed industry leaders at a meeting organized by the Chinese National Association of Industry and Commerce (CNAIC, 工商協進會), where he discussed Taiwan's economic policies.

Cho highlighted the energy sector as a primary concern, stating that rigorous calculations ensure adequate power supply through 2032. He noted that electricity demand will rise by 7 million kilowatts, but new power plants, green energy development, and energy-saving measures will boost supply by 9.2 million kilowatts.

Cho also addressed the controversial topic of nuclear energy, stating that the government will adopt an open attitude toward new nuclear technologies and engage in comprehensive discussions. Cho outlined principles for nuclear energy adoption, emphasizing safety, waste disposal, and national consensus.

He also expressed regret over recent government bullying incidents and pledged swift management adjustments. As the new labor minister took office, Cho aims to propose policies that align with national economic development and labor needs.
