TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The sudden death of renowned romance novelist and TV drama producer Chiung Yao (瓊瑤) on Wednesday (Dec. 4) has left actress Ruby Lin (林心如) grappling with shock and sorrow.
Lin, known for her iconic role as "Xia Ziwei" in Chiung Yao's classic series "My Fair Princess" (還珠格格), shared her feelings through her manager, who stated, "It happened too suddenly. She could not yet come to terms with the news."
According to Next Apple (壹蘋新聞網), Lin, who spent over a decade with Chiung Yao's agency, credited her mentor for shaping her career, calling Chiung Yao her first benefactor. The actress struggled to articulate the depth of her grief over the sudden loss.
Reflecting on her early career, Lin recalled a moment of vulnerability during a reality show, when she nearly lost her role in "My Fair Princess." Lin revealed how Chiung Yao's empathy ultimately secured her place in the series, which became a cherished memory for many.
