TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's average real regular wages for the first 10 months of 2024 increased by 0.50%, while real total wages rose 1.82%, marking a four-year high, the Directorate-General of Budget, Accounting, and Statistics (DGBAS, 主計總處) reported on Tuesday (Dec. 10).
In October, the average regular wage for all employees reached NT$46,455, a 2.63% increase year-on-year. Including bonuses and overtime pay, the total average salary climbed to NT$53,227, reflecting a 3.41% annual growth. The median regular wage for the same period stood at NT$37,203, with a 3.25% increase, while the real median wage rose by 1.04% after adjusting for inflation.
Part-time employees experienced different trends. Their average regular wage dropped by 1.18% from the previous month and 1.80% year-on-year to NT$19,518. With bonuses and overtime, the total average salary for part-time workers decreased by 1.65% monthly and 1.54% annually to NT$20,334. The median regular wage for part-timers fell by 1.07% monthly and 6.11% annually to NT$14,761.
The DGBAS revealed a significant rise in salaries for the industrial and service sectors. The total number of employees rose by 6,000 to 8.486 million by the end of October, a 0.07% increase from the previous month.
