TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The TSG Hawks (台鋼雄鷹) announced on Tuesday (Dec. 17) that they have successfully negotiated a contract with Steven Moya (魔鷹) for the 2025 season. Moya, who contributed 30 home runs and 99 RBIs in the 2024 season, will continue to bring excitement to the games with a contract valued at US$575,000.
As the first foreign slugger in the team's history, Moya delivered an impressive performance in the Hawks' inaugural year. Over 115 games, he achieved a batting average of .294 with 127 hits from 432 at-bats. His remarkable record of 30 home runs and 99 RBIs earned him the title of dual crown champion and made him the fourth foreign player in CPBL history to hit over 30 home runs in a single season.
The TSG Hawks highlighted Moya's skyrocketing popularity during his first CPBL season, noting his ability to captivate fans with his home runs, singing, dancing, and live streaming. With the contract renewal confirmed, Moya expressed gratitude and anticipation for the upcoming season.
In preparation for their second season in the Chinese Professional Baseball League (中職), the TSG Hawks have also renewed contracts with Japanese players Kento Onodera (小野寺賢人) and Kazumasa Yoshida (吉田一将).
