TAIPEI (TVBS News) — The Taipei City Police Department (台北市警察局) on Tuesday (Dec. 31) announced a three-phase traffic control plan in Xinyi District (信義區) from 7 p.m. until 3 a.m. on New Year's Day. Authorities have implemented these measures to manage the expected influx of people attending A-Mei's (張惠妹) concert at the Taipei Dome (台北大巨蛋).
The Traffic Police Corps reported that the Taipei City Government will host the 2025 Taipei New Year's Party (台北最HIGH新年城-2025跨年晚會) at Taipei City Hall Square (市政府前廣場) from 7 p.m. to 1 a.m., drawing large crowds. The first traffic control phase will unfold from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m., restricting entry to vehicles west of Songren Rd. (松仁路), south of ZhongXiao E. Rd. (忠孝東路), north of Xinyi Rd. (信義路), and east of Keelung Rd. (基隆路) and Yixian Rd. (逸仙路).
The second phase, from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m., expands restrictions to Yixian Rd. and Ren'ai Rd. (仁愛路), with no vehicle entry or exit, Keelung Rd.'s underpass is under control. The third phase starts at 10 p.m. and lasts until 3 a.m., covering areas east of Guangfu S. Rd. (光復南路), south of ZhongXiao E. Rd., and north of Xinyi Rd. and Zhuangjing Rd. (莊敬路), with adjustments based on crowd size.
The Traffic Division (交通警察大隊) will also control elevated roads, including Keelung Elevated Rd., HuanDong Boulevard (環東大道), and Tiding Boulevard (堤頂大道). They urge drivers to avoid restricted areas, suggesting alternate routes via Minquan E. Rd. (民權東路) and Nanjing E. Rd. (南京東路). They also recommend public transport due to limited parking.
