TAIPEI (TVBS News) — Taiwan's Tigerair (台灣虎航) on Friday (Jan.10) reported a record-breaking monthly revenue of NT$1.299 billion in Dec. 2024, marking a 14% year-over-year increase. The airline's total revenue in 2024 reached NT$16.423 billion, a 31.7% rise from NT$12.468 billion in 2023, setting a new all-time high.
Tigerair Taiwan achieved NT$12.636 billion in revenue in the first three quarters of 2024, with a 39.6% annual growth rate. The airline's operating profit soared to NT$3.261 billion, a 67.8% increase. With operating gross and net profit margins at 32% and 26%, respectively, the after-tax net profit reached NT$2.476 billion, resulting in an EPS of NT$5.52, a 73% growth compared to the previous year.
As the airline with the most routes to Japan and South Korea, Tigerair Taiwan launched its 20th Japanese route to Miyazaki in November 2024 and plans to open the Kaohsiung-New Chitose route on Jan. 21. The travel market remains robust, fueled by the ski season and Lunar New Year.
In 2025, Tigerair Taiwan expects to receive two new A320neo aircraft and extend leases for six aircraft to navigate global delivery delays. Since its Nov. 29 listing, the airline's stock has performed well, with analysts predicting substantial profits for 2024 due to weak oil prices and strong passenger demand.
The upcoming Lunar New Year and cherry blossom season further bolster optimistic forecasts for Tigerair Taiwan's passenger revenue in 2025.
